Principle of Equal Consideration of Interests

"The essence of the principle of equal consideration of interests is that we give equal weight in our moral deliberations to the like interests of all those affected by our actions." 20p.

"(...) an interest is an interest, whoever's interest it may be." 20p.

"(...) an arbitrary distinction. Why pick on race? Why not on whether a person was born in a leap year? Or whether there is more than one vowel in her surname?" 21p.

"The principle of equal consideration of interests prohibits making our readiness to consider the interests of others depend on their abilities or other characteristics, apart from the characteristic of having interests." 21p.
